Anxiety

 



It is an uneasy, fearful feeling. Everyone can feel anxious sometimes, but people with anxiety disorders often experience fear & worry that is both intense & excessive. Anxiety affects everyone in different ways. Basically anxiety is your body's natural response to stress. Anxiety before exam, anxiety before going for a job interview, anxiety about group of peers, anxiety about going for a speech in font of many people,anxiety before any stage performance, anxiety about answering questions in the classroom etc.in such all situations anxiety is natural & also these types of anxiety are temporary lasts for some limited time. After completing tasks or facing situations the person gets relief & such anxieties has come to an end. If the person is having feeling of anxiety at extreme level since last six months & it is interfering with his or her life then we can say that the person may have an anxiety disorder.


TYPES OF ANXIETY:- 



1) PANIC DISORDER:- 
It involves specific, focused, time- bound attacks of intense fear, even terror. The panic attacks,  lasting from a few minutes up to an hour or more, physical symptoms can include a fast heartbeat, chest or stomach pain, trouble breathing. The person may also feel weakness or dizziness,  sweating, chill or numb hands. The person who is suffering a panic attack, may feel detached from reality & also have feeling that he or she don't have control over the body & thoughts. Some people may feel a sense of impending doom or that something terrible is going to happen. Most people with panic disorder can get better treatment.

2) PHOBIC DISORDER:- 
 An intense, persistent, irrational fear of something specific is a phobia. There are many kinds of phobia such as; fear of enclosed places, fear of height,the dark,insects, animals,blood, fear of school,fear of water fear of flying, fear of lift & so many. Sometimes some well-adjusted people may also have any type of phobia, but their fears may be mild & infrequent so they may cause little difficulty. On the other hand some people may have powerful & irrational phobias that it alters the person's life in a major way. For example:- if a business executive with a strong fear of flying may have to change his or her career if he or she can not overcome the fear.

3) SOCIAL ANXIETY DISORDER:- 
  People who have social anxiety disorder experience an intense fear of one or more situations. They may feel very self conscious or worried about being embarrassed or judged by others. It includes everyday activities such as going to work, school,any social functions. 

4) OBSESSIVE- COMPULSIVE DISORDER:-
Sometimes anxiety & tension are associated with obsessions-persistent unwanted thoughts, impulses or ideas or compulsions seemingly, irrational behaviours repeatedly carried out in a fixed, repetitive way. Obsession & compulsions tend to go together. In fact compulsive actions may be directly related to obsessive thoughts. A person obsessed with the idea that he is dirty may wash his hands compulsively every few minutes. Most of the people have experienced mild & temporary forms of these problems. But if these problems started repeatedly then it may be known as obsessive disorder.

5) SEPARATION ANXIETY DISORDER:- 
 This means the person is having fear of being away from home or from loved once.
              These all are considered as main types of anxiety.


SYMPTOMS OF ANXIETY:



 1) Restlessness

  2) Trouble in concentration

    3)Sleeping difficulty 
  
   4) Fatigue 

   5) Irritability 

   6)  Chest pain

   7) Feeling choking

   8) Sweating, chills, hot flashes,          shaking body

   9) Nausea

  10) Breathing problem

   11) Fear of dying


WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF ANXIETY:- 



  There is no explanation of exact cause of anxiety. But some common causes can be determined:- 

1) Stress.

2) Due to some health issues.

3) Separation of the parents in the childhood. 

4) Environmental concerns, such as child abuse.

5) Situations like surgery or occupational hazards.

6) Hereditary.

7) Personality traits.


HOW TO HELP CHILD TO MANAGE ANXIETY:- 


In a very anxious moment, your child or young person may feel frightened or worried about having panic attack. If this happens focus on helping them to calm down & feel safe. There are some strategies to manage anxiety:- 

1) Help your child to recognise the situation which makes him or her anxious. 

2) Help the children to take care of their daily needs.

3) Spend quality time with your child.

4) Practice deep breathing. 

5) Break down tasks.

6) Role plays .

7) Identify triggers.


HOW TO OVERCOME ANXIETY:- 



There are two main ways to treat anxiety in the children. Cognitive behaviour therapy & medications. Daily breathing exercise is also best solution for anxiety. CBT helps children learning skills that help with calming body reactions,  thinking, differently facing fears & challenges in smaller steps. Children can learn coping skills in individual therapy or group therapies.
               There is always solution for every disease,  disorder but only thing that we have to take professional's help at the right time & need to keep trust with the therapies & medications..
