Bullying

 



Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behaviour among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. This behaviour is repeated or the potential to be repeated. Students who are bullied often feel threatened & powerless. Bullying can have harmful & long lasting consequences for the children. Besides the physical effects of bullying children may experience emotional & mental health problems such as depression, anxiety etc. Boys are more likely to experience physical bullying , while girls are more likely to experience psychological bullying. Children who are bully are generally from high society status, high authorities, money power backgrounds. The children who are being bullied may be from low social status, poor families, with different gender identity,  children with disabilities etc.


TYPES OF BULLYING :- 




1) PHYSICAL BULLYING:-

Physical bullying is the most common type. It includes any physical attack on a person's body by hitting, kicking, tripping or pushing. Mostly the tendency of physical bullying is shown in the individual or a group of individuals who are bigger or stronger than the individual being targeted. 

2) VERBAL BULLYING:- 

It involves using spoken or written wordsto insultor intimidate a victim. It includes nqme calling, teasing & even threats. 

3) RELATIONAL BULLYING:- 

Relational bullying is referred to as relational aggression, social bullying. It can involves embarrassing the person in public, spreading bad rumours, purposely leaving them in unwanted social situations, criticising in groups etc. Relational bullying may be lead to isolation,  depression,  loneliness & social anxiety. 

4) CYBER BULLYING:- 

It takes place over digital devices like cell phones, computers, tablets etc. Cyber bullying can occur through sms, text, online in social medias, forums, or gaming where people can view, participate in or share contents. Cyber bullying can happen anywhere there is online interaction. For example some students use social media, video games, texting or anonymous apps to bully other students, post embarrassing picture, share private information or sending threatening messages. 

5) SEXUAL BULLYING:- 

It is online or in- person bullying that involves sexual comments or actions including sexual jokes & name calling, crude gestures, spreading sexual rumours, sending sexual photos, videos, memes, touching or grabbing someone without permission. 

6) PREJUDICIAL BULLYING:- 

It is online or in person bullying based on the target's race, ethnicity, religion etc. It is based on the stereotypes & is often a result of the belief that some people deserve to be treated with less respect than others. 


CAUSES OF BULLYING:-




Some common reasons of bullying are :- 

1) To gain a sense of power among their classmates. 

2) To become popular. 

3) To show power to some people.

4) Due to some psychological issues. 

5) Having some past experience. 

6) To get the things done.

7) To copy someone the admire.

8) To scare some people.


HOW TO DEAL WITH BULLYING:-




While it might seem like dealing with bullying is a thing that only childrwn might go through. We can be confronted with bullies at any stage of our life. Being bullied is a frustrating & painful experience. 

There are some tips for the children to deal with bullying situations 

1) Don't lose your confidence. 

2) Stay calm in the situation.

3) Don't be submissive. 

4) Sometimes it is best to just leave.

5) Try to share your experience with your true friend.

6) Always  inform your parents about the bullying situation. 

7) Enforce your boundaries. 

8) Get help from someone else. 

9) Stay positive. 

10) Don't blame yourself  

11) Protect your personal space.

12) Try to keep yourself engage in the activities in which you are interested. 



Some tips for the parents to deal with bullying situation of your child.

1) Educate your child about bullying. 

2) Try to built up friendly relation with your  child.

3) Help your child to increase their self confidence. 

4) Never blame your child.

5) Be a role model.

6) Be part of their online experience. 

7) Help your children to manage their stress.

8) Promote positive body language.

9) Keep an open line of communication. 

10) Teach them the right way to react.


HOW TO PREVENT CYBER BULLYING:- 




1) Tell some knowledgeable person.

2) keep data secure. 

3) Don't share any personal information on social media. 

4) Don't respond or retaliate. 

5) Save the evidence. 

6) Reach out for help.

7) Protect your accounts. 

8) Make the most of privacy settings. 

9) Think before you post.

10) Don't respond to the bully.

11) Block the bully.

12) Report the bully to the authorities. 




REMEMBER  THAT ANY SITUATION IS NOT PERMANENT. WE CAN OVERCOME EVERY SITUATION. THE ONLY THING IS THAT WE HAVE TO FOLLOW SOME TECHNIQUES TO HANDLE SUCH SITUATION...
